Which is a better camera the Canon AE-1 or Canon K2?

I am looking for a SLR film camera for my photo class. The Canon AE-1 i found online comes with a 50mm lens selling for $50 and the Canon K2 comes with a 28-90mm lens, strap, bag selling for $60. I don't know much about SLR film cameras so if the gurus can help me decide here.

Get the K2. The AE-1 is a much older camera and is manual focus only. Most AE-1's being sold now have bad light seals and are likely to have light leaks. The K2 you listed has a zoom lens and is autofocus, plus the lens will work with a modern Canon SLR if/when U upgrade.

When U check out the camera before U buy, bring a roll of film with U and see if it loads and transports through the camera. Make sure the camera mirror goes up and down (the viewfinder will darken). Make sure the autofocus system works. Yes, the film will get used up for testing, but it's cheaper than buying a camera that doesn't work.
